Thurman D. Kitchen Professor of Biology Ron Dimock has a long history of mentoring Wake Forest students. He teaches marine biology, invertebrate zoology, comparative physiology and physiological ecology. In his 42 years at the University, he has managed to keep track of many of his former students, both graduate and undergraduate, exemplifying the teacher-scholar ideal.
For the last three semesters, he and biology major Laura Lemley (’13) have conducted research on mussels in his lab in Winston Hall, studying how these shellfish use cilia to feed. Their time in the lab advances the science, but also provides the opportunity to go beyond the books.
