Students lobbied to perform ‘Marisol’

Students act in Marisol

Students who read José Rivera’s “Marisol” in class and remember the 2009 Mainstage theatre performance of his work “Sonnets for an Old Century” came together to in a rare uprising to request that the University theatre stage “Marisol” as part of its 2012-13 season. Director and theatre professor Cindy Gendrich says the play speaks to today’s post 9/11 generation who live under the threat that things could fall apart for them at any time.
