Media Advisory: NC climate change policy panel hosted by WFU

Four experts representing state government, environmental policy, utilities and corporations will discuss climate change and sustainability in relation to North Carolina and the difficulties associated with addressing these issues at the state level.

“There is no more important issue facing leaders at every level than the challenge of climate change,” said Justin Catanoso, director of journalism and panel moderator. “Leaders in government, nonprofits, business and utilities all have important roles to play. This panel discussion, which will focus largely on the implications of climate change for North Carolina, comes as a time when bold action is needed. The panelists are in an ideal position to discuss what’s happening in the state, what’s not, and most importantly, why.”

Speakers include Mitch Gillepsie, senior environmental policy adviser to House Speaker Tim Moore; Grady McCallie, policy director of the North Carolina Conservation Network; Mark McIntire, director of Environmental Policy and Affairs at Duke Energy Corporation; and Chris Fox, vice president of corporate social responsibility at Hanesbrands Inc.

The event is free and open to the public. The discussion begins at 3:30 p.m. and will be held in Annenberg Auditorium in Carswell Hall.
