Rogan Kersh at TEDxWakeForestU

Wake Forest University will host TEDxWakeForestU, an independently organized event licensed by TED, on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Wait Chapel. The student-organized event will feature speakers who actively seek out new challenges and experiences that broaden their perspectives and change their lives.

The event is free for Wake Forest students, faculty and staff. General admission is $15. Register here.

TEDxWakeForestU speakers include filmmaker Otto Bell and innovation consultant Jeremy Cage.

  • Named one of the top ten directors to watch by Variety, Otto Bell spent his life savings filming the award-winning documentary “The Eagle Huntress.” Inspired by the image of a 13-year-old girl on a Mongolian mountain top casting an eagle in the air, Bell writes on the film’s website, “I knew that somewhere in the world this girl was out there…and there was a film that needed to be made about her.” His film won eight awards, has received 18 nominations, and was on the short list for a 2017 Oscar nomination.
  • Recently featured in Investors Business Daily, strategy and marketing consultant Jeremy Cage is an expert on finding the courage to pursue dreams and goals. “Dreaming involves risk, so you need to be courageous as you venture into the unknown,” he said. “To act courageously, you have to win the battle in your mind.” The author of All Dreams on Deck will talk about strengthening your courage muscle. Cage is president of the Cage Group, a strategy, marketing and innovation firm designed to help businesses and organizations unleash their full potential.

“Curiosity creates openness to unfamiliar experiences, while at the same time laying a foundation for greater opportunities to experience discovery, joy and delight,” said junior Hayden Lineberger, 2017 Director of TEDxWakeForestU. “Our speakers have been chosen for their ability to inspire attendees to embrace their sense of curiosity and transform every day into an interesting and enjoyable experience.”

Other TEDx speakers include

  • Joe Callahan, CEO of Ciright Companies— A collective of engineers, creatives, writers and marketers who are passionate about driving business forward using technology and innovation.
  • Anna Cianci, associate accounting professor at Wake Forest School of Business whose research has been published in the Journal of Business Ethics and Accounting, Organizations, and Society.
