More than 800 students danced in Reynolds Gym on Saturday, March 19, as part of the sixth annual Wake ‘n Shake Dance Marathon. The event raises money for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund and the Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

As of March 23, this year’s efforts have raised $52,079, and contributions will continue for another month.

“We are confident this figure will continue to rise,” said co-chair Kyle Rate, “and are extremely proud of this sizable contribution to the Comprehensive Cancer Center.

“It was truly a remarkable year for Wake ‘n Shake as the dancers were more energized and connected throughout all twelve hours of the event than ever before.”

The event ran from noon to midnight, and it featured music by a deejay and the band Rubberband. Students either danced or took part in other activities, such as races, using hula-hoops and playing on inflatables.
