Everyone at Wake Forest shares a special bond, but seniors Curtis Vann and Emily Roach have more in common than most from the Class of 2012. Not only do both come from a long line of Wake Foresters dating back to the old campus, their fathers became best friends and roommates in Taylor Hall more than 30 years ago.

Ergen to speak at commencement

Charlie Ergen, the chairman of satellite broadcaster Dish Network Corporation and EchoStar Communications Corporation, will deliver the commencement address on May 21. Jonathan T.M. Reckford, the CEO of Habitat for Humanity International, will deliver the baccalaureate address.

PepsiCo CEO is commencement speaker

Indra K. Nooyi, chairman and chief executive officer of PepsiCo, will deliver the 2011 commencement address on May 16. “When she visited campus two years ago, Indra wowed students with her insight and energy,” said President Nathan O. Hatch.

Wake Forest graduates 1,600 students

The odds finally caught up with Wake Forest’s Commencement ceremony. For the first time since 1991, rain forced University officials to move the ceremony from Hearn Plaza to Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
