WFU’s New Woodwind Quintet Presents Debut Concert

A new woodwind quintet, Opus 5, will perform its first concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Wake Forest University’s Brendle Recital Hall.

Composed of Wake Forest faculty members, Opus 5 is Winston-Salem’s only professional woodwind quintet. The ensemble will perform works by Mozart, Ferenc Farkas, Paul Taffanel, Irving Fine and Eugene Bozza.

The recital will feature Kathryn Levy, flute; Steven L. Jones, oboe; Linda Julian, clarinet; Jonathan Julian, bassoon; and Robert Campbell, French horn. Peter Kairoff, Wake Forest associate professor of music, will join the group for Mozart’s Piano Quintet in E flat Major, K452.

In addition to teaching at Wake Forest, the musicians also perform with area orchestras, including the Winston-Salem Piedmont Triad Symphony.

Admission is free. For information, call (910) 759-5026.
