Flutist to Give Recital/Class at WFU

The Wake Forest University Department of Music will sponsor a mini-recital and master class with flutist Leone Buyse on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m. in Brendle Recital Hall.

Admission is free.

Buyse’s program will include music by Grier, Loeb, Hoover, and Martinu. For the master class, three Wake Forest student flutists will perform works by Gaubert, Ibert and Hindemith. Buyse will be assisted by pianist Barbara Lister-Sink, artist-in-residence at Salem College, and Kathryn Levy, Wake Forest flute instructor.

Buyse will also discuss principles of tone production, breathing and practice techniques. Audience members are welcome to bring their flutes for this part of the program.

She has performed with the San Francisco Symphony, the Boston Symphony and the Boston Pops. She has taught at the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston University, Tanglewood Music Center, the University of Michigan and Rice University.
