Faculty/Guest Trio to Perform at WFU

The Emrys Ensemble, a trio whose repertoire extends from Baroque to contemporary, will perform at Wake Forest University Sunday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m. in Brendle Recital Hall.

Cellist Lisa Liske-Doorandish and pianist Katharine Boyes formed the ensemble in 1993, while they were studying at the San Francisco Conservatory. Flutist Chester Burke joined the group in 1996.

Mozart’s Trio in G Major, K. 564 will open the program and will be followed by “Trio” composed in 1994 by contemporary American composer Cynthia Folio.

Selections from “Folksongs” by contemporary composer Reza Vali will also highlight the program. “Folksongs” was composed in 1991 and is based on Persian melodies.

Liske-Doorandish performs with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra. Burke is principal flutist with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and Boyes is currently a visiting instructor in music at Wake Forest.

Admission is free. For information, call 758-5026.
