Wake Forest Flutist to Give Senior Recital

Flutist Megan Johnson, a Wake Forest University senior, will perform a Senior Presidential Scholar Recital at 3 p.m. March 27 in the university’s Brendle Recital Hall.

Johnson will perform music by Philippe Gaubert, Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Georg Philipp Telemann. Soprano Karon Click, also a Wake Forest senior, will join Johnson to perform “Irish Folk Song Settings” by John Corigliano.

Johnson, a resident of Asheville, is majoring in health and exercise science with a minor in music. While a student at Wake Forest, Johnson has performed with the Wake Forest Flute Choir, Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. She played Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Winston-Salem Piedmont Triad Symphony and was the 1998 recipient of the Joseph Pleasant and Marquerite Nutt Sloan Award in the Giles-Harris Competitions in Musical Performance.

Johnson is the daughter of Danie and the late Mary Louise Johnson.
