Wake Forest Pianist to Present Sonnets and Sonatas
Pianist Katherine Boyes will present sonnets by the 14th century Italian poet Francesco Petrarca set to music by Franz Liszt during an 8 p.m. concert on March 30 at Wake Forest University’s Brendle Recital Hall.
Boyes, a visiting assistant professor of music at Wake Forest, will also present a Beethoven sonata and music by Oliver Messiaen.
Admission is free.
A native of England, Boyes has given solo and chamber music performances throughout Great Britain and the United States and has recorded for BBC Radio and American Public Radio. Boyes is a member of the chamber music group Emrys Ensemble and co-directed the Cincinnati Contemporary Music Ensemble Festival from 1995-98. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
