Leader of national theater group to visit Wake Forest
Ben Cameron, executive director of the Theatre Communications Group in New York City, will visit Wake Forest University Oct. 7 and 8. The Theatre Communications Group is the national service organization for the American nonprofit professional theater.
Cameron will give a public lecture, “Does American Theatre Have a Voice?” at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 on the Scales Fine Arts Center’s Main Stage.
While at Wake Forest, he will also be a guest lecturer in several theater classes and lead a workshop, “The Voice of the Theater Community,” for Triad area theater leaders.
Previously, Cameron was the manager of community relations for the Dayton Hudson Corporation. From 1988-92, he worked at the National Endowment for the Arts, where he served as director of the theater program. He has taught theater classes at the Yale School of Drama, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Virginia Tech. Cameron has been associate artistic director of the Indiana Repertory Theater and literary manager of the PlayMakers Repertory Company.
