Annual flute fest concert to be held
The annual Flute Fest Concert will be held at 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at Wake Forest University’s Brendle Recital Hall.
The concert will feature the students of Wake Forest flute instructor Kathryn Levy; the Wake Forest Flute Choir; and the Silver Wind Flute Choir, a professional ensemble.
The program will include pieces by George Telemann, Franz Doppler, Joann Stamitz, John Harmon, Claude Debussy, Jacques CastÈrËde, and Gabriel FaurÈ. In addition, as the grand finale other area flutists and students will join the groups for a performance of the Pavanne by Gabriel FaurÈ.
The Silver Wind Flute Choir was founded in 1994 under the direction of Kathryn Levy, who is also the principal flute of the Winston-Salem Piedmont Triad Symphony. The ensemble members are Triad area performers and teachers.
A reception will follow the concert.
