Couple to perform recital at Wake Forest University on Oct. 1
Violist Eva Stern and pianist Joel Schoenhals will perform a recital at Wake Forest University on Oct. 1.
The couple, who are married, will perform “Sonata No. 1” by Darius Milhaud, “Six Studies in English Folksong” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, “Sonata in E-flat Major, Op. 120, No. 2” by Johannes Brahms and “Sonata” by Rebecca Clarke.
The concert will be held at 3 p.m. in the Brendle Recital Hall at the Scales Center.
Stern and Schoenhals have been performing together since 1995 when they met at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. They now teach at Longwood College in Virginia and travel the nation to teach master classes and to perform.
The couple specializes in the performance of both standard repertoire and less familiar works.
Stern is also a member of the music faculty at the University of Richmond. She is a former member of the Louisville Orchestra and of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra.
Schoenhals is also a faculty member at the Chautauqua Institution in New York.
