Holzman to perform classical guitar music at WFU
Guitarist Adam Holzman will perform at Wake Forest University’s Brendle Recital Hall on Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
Holzman is a renowned classical guitarist who has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Concertebouw in Amsterdam. He has won five major music competitions including the top prize in the Guitar Foundation of America’s 1983 contest. The New York Times has called Holzman’s music “polished and quite dazzling.”
The concert at Wake Forest will include music by composers Georg Philipp Telemann, Joseph Kasper Mertz, George Rochberg, Jorge Ritter, Julio Cesar Oliva and Antonio Lauro.
Holzman is the founder of the Guitar Department at the University of Texas, where he teaches music. His newest album on the Naxos label is titled “The Venezuelan Waltzes of Antonio Lauro.”
