Public gathering permits granted for Wake Forest presidential debate
Wake Forest University has granted seven public gathering permits for the Oct. 11 presidential debate on its campus.
The following groups have been granted permits: American Atheists; PQLC; Falun Gong (Falun Dafa); West Triangle, N.C. Million Mom March; Virginia Tech Honors Program; and the Libertarian Party of Forsyth County. One permit was granted to a private citizen. In total, the approved applicants estimated they would bring 250 people to campus.
Fourteen groups requested applications and University Police distributed applications to all 14. University Police approved all applicants who provided the required information.
Due to inadequate information on some applications, such as lack of phone number, University Police were unable to grant permits to all applicants.
The demonstrators will gather in a designated area near the University Parkway entrance to the university from 6 p.m. until 1 a.m. on debate night.
