Wake Forest to present student showcase recital

Wake Forest University’s music faculty have selected nine students to present a student showcase recital at 8 p.m. on Oct. 24 in Wait Chapel.

Alto saxophonist Jeremiah Fortune will perform a sonata by Bernard Heiden and “Fantasy Piece” by Robert Schumann.

Mezzo-soprano Ember Rigsby will sing Benjamin Britten’s “A Charm of Lullabies, Op. 41,” accompanied by Thomas Turnbull.

Harpist Krista Duran will play “Bransles” by 16th century composer Antoine Francisque.

Clarinetist Alan Trammell, violinists Zachary Bradley and Kate Williams, violist Jessica Dial and cellist Sarah Obrecht will perform Brahms’ “Quintet, Op 115.”

Organist Matt Emkey will conclude the program with Bach’s “Trio Sonata No. 5” and the “PiËces of Fantasie, 3e Suite” by Louis Vierne.
