Veterans to be honored at Nov. 9 ceremony at Wake Forest
The military science department at Wake Forest University will host a ceremony to honor veterans Nov. 9. Certificates will be presented to faculty, staff and students who are veterans at 11:30 a.m. in Perritt Plaza, the flagpole area outside Benson University Center.
The ceremony is an annual event at Wake Forest that falls just before Veterans’ Day. It features a short speech by a veteran from the university community. More than 40 people gathered for the 1999 presentation as “Taps” was played and a wreath was placed by the flagpole to honor veterans who lost their lives in battle. The Army ROTC program at Wake Forest was established in 1951 and has produced more than 1,700 officers.
For more information about the ceremony, call Maj. Jimmy E. Hall, assistant professor of military science, at 758-5545.
