WFU faculty to present concert in honor of Bach’s birthday
Five Wake Forest University faculty and one guest artist will present “Bach’s Birthday Bash” concert at 8 p.m. March 21 in Brendle Recital Hall.
The free concert will honor the 316th anniversary of the birth of J.S. Bach with a selection of vocal and instrumental solos and chamber works by the composer.
The program will begin with “Sonata in g minor,” for flute and harpsichord. “Halleluja, St”rk und Macht” from Cantata no. 29 and “Auch mit ged”mpften, schwachen Stimmen” from Cantata no. 36 will feature both vocal and instrumental performers.
The program will also feature “Sonata in E Major for Violin and Harpsichord” and four movements from “English Suite No. 3 in g minor.” Wake Forest music students will join the faculty musicians for the concluding piece, “Domine Deus” from “Mass in b minor.” The students are Zachary Bradley on violin, Jamie Raudensky on viola and Katherine Anderson on flute.
Wake Forest faculty performers will include soprano Teresa Radomski and tenor Richard Heard on the vocal parts. Wake Forest faculty instrumentalists will be Kathryn Levy, flute; Jacqui Carrasco, violin; and Peter Kairoff, harpsichord. Guest musician Gayle Masarie will play the cello.
