WFU spring choral concert to feature works by Handel

Wake Forest University’s Department of Music will host a choral concert featuring works by Handel at 8 p.m. April 26 in Brendle Recital Hall.

The university’s Choral Union, Collegium Vocal Ensemble, Concert Choir and the Wake Forest Chorale will contribute selections to the program. The concert will feature several of Handel’s lesser-known works. The pieces were composed for the church, the court and the theatre, and are not performed as often as the popular, “Messiah.” The choral ensembles will join together to sing the concluding anthem, “Zadok the Priest.”

Brian Gorelick, associate professor of music and director of choral ensembles at Wake Forest, will lead the choirs. Staff accompanist Joanne Inkman will perform with the choirs.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information call 336-758-5364.
