Guitarist Carlos Peréz in concert at Wake Forest
Guitarist Carlos Peréz will perform at 8 p.m. Nov. 6 at Wake Forest University’s Brendle Recital Hall in Scales Fine Arts Center.
The concert will feature works by J.S. Bach, Franz Schubert, Joaquin Rodrigo, Abel Fleur and Leo Brouwer. The program will also include traditional Chilean pieces arranged by Peréz.
Born in 1976, Peréz began guitar study at an early age with his father and Chilean folk musician friends. He studied at the University of Chile and has won many international guitar competitions.
His work has been recorded in two compact discs featuring the music of Barrios, Pujol, Dyens, Frederick, Giulani, Ascencio, Rodrigo and Bach. The “Concierto del Sur” by Manual Ponce with the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonie is featured on one of the discs.
In addition to appearances with several orchestras in England, Belgium, Portugal, Russia and Chile, Peréz has performed on Spain’s national radio.
