WFU jazz ensemble to perform

The Wake Forest University Jazz Ensemble will present “A Tribute to New York City” at 8 p.m. November 28 in Brendle Recital Hall.

The concert will open with “The Heat’s On” by Sammy Nestico. Miles Davis’s “So What” and “Midnight in Manhattan” will follow. Also featured will be New York-themed pieces by Anita Baker, Duke Ellington and Horace Silver. The performance will conclude with “New York, New York” by Edd and Kander, and “No More Mr. Nice Guy” by David Springfield.

The jazz ensemble is conducted by Patrick Tucker, an adjunct music professor at Wake Forest. The Summit School Band will perform with the Wake Forest group.

The program is free and open to the public, but donations will be collected for the Twin Towers Fund to aid victims’ families. For more information, call 336-758-5364.
