WFU students present one-act plays
Wake Forest University senior theatre students Julia Schmidt and Kate Lambert will direct two one-act plays March 3 at 7:30 p.m. and March 4 at 4:30 p.m. in the Ring Theatre of the Scales Fine Arts Center. Tickets will be sold at the door beginning one hour prior to the performance for $2 each.
The one-acts are part of the annual Studio Series presented by student directors and featuring an all-student cast, crew and production team. The final event will be March 24 and March 25.
Schmidt will present Neil LaBute’s “bash: a gaggle of saints.” The play focuses on a young Mormon couple, John and Sue, recounting a night spent in New York City. It is structured as overlapping and intertwining monologues of each account rather than a conversation. The cast will include Wake Forest juniors Joey Mertes and Stephanie Hill.
Lambert will present A.R. Gurney’s satire “The Problem,” whose plot centers on a wife telling her husband that she is pregnant. This seemingly innocent announcement provokes humorous and increasingly complicated tales of infidelity and perversion. The husband will be played by Wake Forest freshman Matt Gutschick and the wife will be played by senior Katie Henderson.
For more information, please call the theatre box office at 758-5295. The office will be open on weekday afternoons.
