WFU professor performs “Triadic Memories”

Pianist Louis Goldstein, professor of music at Wake Forest University, will perform a recital Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. in Brendle Recital Hall at Scales Fine Arts Center. A pre-concert talk will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Goldstein will perform Morton Feldman’s “Triadic Memories,” a concert piece containing 100 minutes of floating tones and mesmeric harmony surrounded by eloquent, mysterious silences.

“Triadic Memories” is an example of Feldman’s concern with how a musical composition sounded rather than how it was made and is the work that set him on a path toward a new concert experience, according to Goldstein’s program notes.

Feldman describes the piece as “Time in its unstructured existence … how Time exists before we put our paws on it … our minds, our imagination into it.”

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 336-758-5364.
