WFU holiday events provide media opportunities

The media is invited to attend several holiday events at Wake Forest University that will offer print and broadcast opportunities for holiday-related photographs, video and stories. Below is a brief summary of these free, public events. Contact the News Service at 336-758-5237 for more information or to arrange coverage.

  • “Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols”
    Dec. 2, 11 a.m. in Wait Chapel. Features eight lessons, musical performances and congregational hymns that take participants on a journey from the promise of the Messiah to the birth of Christ and his anticipated return. The Divinity School’s first piece of commissioned textile art will also be unveiled.
  • “Lighting of the Quad”
    Dec 3, 8 p.m. on University Plaza (Quad). Students will decorate the buildings surrounding the plaza with greenery, white lights and a live evergreen tree. The event will feature an interfaith service with musical performances.
  • Holiday Choral Concert
    Dec. 4, 8 p.m. in Brendle Recital Hall, Scales Fine Arts Center. Wake Forest’s Concert Choir will perform the world premiere of “O Sing to the Lord a New Song” written by composer-in-residence and professor of music Dan Locklair. The Collegium Vocal Ensemble and Wake Forest Chorale will also perform other musical selections and carols. The audience will be invited to join in singing the traditional “Hallelujah” chorus.
  • 38th Annual Christmas Lovefeast
    Dec. 7, 8 p.m. in Wait Chapel. A popular event featuring a traditional Moravian lovefeast and candlelight service. Luminaries will encircle University Plaza.
