WFU’s Graylyn International Conference Center wins award from disabilities agency

Graylyn International Conference Center of Wake Forest University has been named 2004 Employer of the Year by the Mayor’s Council for Persons with Disabilities (MCPD) in Winston-Salem. Mayor Allen Joines presented a plaque to Graylyn at an awards banquet on Oct. 19. Graylyn was anonymously nominated for the award.

“It is a great honor, and we are proud to have won it,” said Christy Lennon, Human Resources manager at Graylyn.

Several people with varying disabilities currently work at Graylyn. Lennon says the conference center has always been open to hiring persons with disabilities.

The MCPD is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that works to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities. The Employer of the Year Award is annually presented to an employer that promotes the empowerment of persons with disabilities through gainful employment.
