“The Maids” and “The Winged Man” conclude WFU’s 2004 studio series
The Wake Forest University Theatre will present the final installment of the 2004 Studio Series with “The Maids” by Jean Genet and “The Winged Man” by José Rivera. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 22 and 4:30 p.m. Nov. 23 in the Ring Theatre of Scales Fine Arts Center.
Directed by Wake Forest senior theatre major Madeline Smith, “The Maids” is about a pair of maids serving an extravagant and oppressive Madame who fantasize about killing the Madame. When the Madame arrives, the two are given an opportunity to turn their fantasy into reality. The cast includes Wake Forest sophomore Katharine McEnery, freshman Katie Richardson and senior Stephanie Hill.
In “The Winged Man,” a young woman named Daysi, played by senior Mary Patterson Broome, becomes pregnant with the child of a “winged man.” She struggles between fantasy and reality as she deals with the pressures of her mother, high school gossip and the realities of being pregnant. The play, directed by senior Rebecca Lowry, also stars junior Lindsey Hardegree, sophomore Dowd Keith and senior Pip Rinehart.
Tickets are free to Wake Forest University Theatre season ticket holders and $2 at the door for non-season subscribers. Call 336-758-5295 for more information.
