Annual music competition to be held at WFU
The Wake Forest University music department will present the 28th annual Christopher Giles and Lucille S. Harris Competitions in Musical Performance Feb. 26 in Scales Fine Arts Center’s Brendle Recital Hall. Admission is free.
During the open competition, which begins at 1 p.m., 24 Wake Forest students will compete for cash prizes. The students will perform music in the competition category “Music from 1900 to the Present.”
Eight Wake Forest students will also compete for cash prizes in the piano competition at 6 p.m. The pianists will perform selections of their choice.
Established by Paul and Sara Sinal, the music competitions honor Christopher Giles, who taught piano at Wake Forest for 37 years before his death in 1996, and retired piano instructor Lucille S. Harris.
