‘Rough Rider’ author to give reading and booksigning at WFU
Sarah Watts, author of the 2003 book “Rough Rider in the White House: Theodore Roosevelt and the Politics of Desire” and professor of history at Wake Forest University will give a reading of her work followed by a booksigning at 3 p.m. March 23 in Wake Forest’s Z. Smith Reynolds Library, Room 204. The reading is free and open to the public.
In the book, Watts draws from Roosevelt’s own writing and media representations of him and presents him as a man whose obsession with masculinity addressed the hopes and anxieties of men of his time and profoundly influenced the fate of the nation.
The event is sponsored by the Z. Smith Reynolds Library.
