WFU Theatre to present ‘Twelfth Night’

The Wake Forest University Theatre will close its season with Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” at 7:30 p.m. beginning April 1 at the MainStage Theatre in Scales Fine Arts Center.

Full of mistaken identities, misdirected passions, low tricks, and unexpected poignancy, “Twelfth Night” remains one of Shakespeare’s best-loved comedies, with such favorite characters as Sir Toby Belch, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Malvolio and Feste.

John Friedenberg, Wake Forest director of theatre, will direct the production. The cast includes Leah Roop-Kharasch, Chris Hayes, Stephanie Hill, Laura Halsey, Matthew Gutschick, Scott Thompson, Zach Tysinger, Scotty Candler, Erich Jones, Mike Kelly, Bethany Novak, Mike Casby, Kyle Smithers, Jonathan Furr, Laura Lutkefedder, Rachel Baxley, and Adam Humenansky. Kate Bashore will stage manage the production. Set designer is Frank Ludwig, associate professor of theatre. Costume designer is Mary Wayne-Thomas, associate professor and chair of the theatre department. Lighting designer is Jonathan Christman, associate professor of theatre. Sound designer is Nick Ewen, a senior theatre major.

The play will run April 1-2 and again April 6-9 at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday matinee begins at 2 p.m April 10.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for students, and may be purchased at the Theatre Box Office or by calling 336-758-5295. The box office is open weekdays, noon-5 p.m. For more information, visit the Wake Forest University Theatre Web site at http://www.wfu.edu/theatre.
