The Anthony Aston Players, a Wake Forest University student theatre group, will present a production of “Tales of the Lost Formicans” at 7:30 p.m. April 14 – 16 in the Ring Theatre of Scales Fine Arts Center.
Time magazine calls the play “a travel guide to middle America conducted by aliens.” It follows the story of a woman named Cathy. After her husband impregnates one of his students, she moves back home to care for her father who is battling Alzheimer’s disease. Her rebellious son, overbearing mother, self-destructive best friend and nosey neighbor complicate matters. In addition, a group of alien narrators twist things even farther as they observe Cathy’s family and document their activities as the model of human society.
The show stars Wake Forest students Emily Johnson, Marla Dumont, Lindsey Hardegree, Jimmy McKell, Taylor Robertson, J.W. Crump and Stowe Nelson. The play is directed by George Graves. Alex Beiter will stage manage the production. Set designer is Pip Rinehart. Lighting designer is Madeline Smith. Costume designer is Rebecca Lowry. Sound designer is Melissa Gervasio, and prop designer is Katie Doiron.
Tickets cost $5 for adults; $3 for students and may be purchased at the door.
