Anthropology museum announces new collaborative exhibit

Wake Forest University’s Museum of Anthropology announces the opening of a new collaborative exhibit, “Treasures from a Moravian Attic: Native American Objects from the Wachovia Historical Society Collection.” The exhibit will run from Sept. 11 to Nov. 30 at the Guilford Native American Art Gallery.

This year, the Wachovia Historical Society and the Missionary Society of the Moravian Church South, Inc. donated more than 20,000 Native American archaeological and ethnographic objects to Wake Forest’s Museum of Anthropology.

In celebration of this donation, the museum and the Guilford Native American Art Gallery created the exhibit, which features the stories and exceptional objects of several 19th and 20th century explorers, archaeologists and Moravian collectors.

The Guilford Native American Art Gallery is located in the Greensboro Cultural Center at 200 North Davie Street in Greensboro. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday through Saturday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday; and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. To contact the gallery, call (336) 273-6605.
