WFU to honor veterans with ceremonies
WFU to host Veterans Day Ceremony Nov. 10
Wake Forest University will host a Veterans Day Ceremony on Perritt Plaza, beside Reynolda Hall, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. Cadets, faculty and staff from the University’s “No Fear!” ROTC program will pay tribute to our nation’s heroes and veterans. The event is free and open to the public.
Deacs to honor military at LJVM Classic Nov. 10
The Wake Forest men’s and women’s basketball season openers Nov. 10 will honor active duty and retired military personnel, including offering free tickets to veterans and their families. In addition to providing free tickets, Wake Forest will recognize veterans and military personnel during the game via a partnership with the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 638. The men’s game against Georgia Southern at 7:30 p.m. marks the Demon Deacon’s fifth annual Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Classic. The women’s game begins at 4 p.m. against Texas Southern.
U.S. Navy Band Commodores to perform at WFU Nov. 11
Wake Forest welcomes the United States Navy Band – Commodores Jazz Ensemble to Brendle Recital Hall Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. The Navy’s premier jazz ensemble, which formed in 1969, has been performing the very best of big band jazz for the Navy and the nation for over 40 years. The concert is free, but tickets are required. Please call 336-758-5026 to reserve tickets.
Throughout the week, Wake Forest University School of Law celebrated Veterans Awareness Week Nov. 7-9. The Veterans Advocacy Legal Organization (VALOR) sponsored several events, which included a panel discussion and Marine Corps cake-cutting ceremony. See more here.
