WFU 2018 Student Art Exhibition opens April 19
The 2018 Student Art Exhibition will open Thursday, April 19, at Hanes Art Gallery in Scales Fine Arts Center. The show will feature artwork by Wake Forest undergraduate student artists.
This year, the gallery received 194 submissions from 81 student artists representing 16 different majors.
Artwork on exhibit is selected by a jury of studio art faculty and includes works in a variety of media, such as paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture and photography. Eighty works were chosen from among those submitted.
During the April 19 opening reception at 6 p.m., six students will receive a $100 Hanes Gallery Award. Winners are selected by Wake Forest art faculty and the gallery staff.
Each year, Wake Forest purchases works from the Student Art Exhibition for the John P. Anderson Collection of Student Art, part of the University Art Collections.
The show runs through May 21.
