Wake Forest University announces search for 15th president

The Board of Trustees announced the launch of a national search for Wake Forest University’s next president. Earlier this month, President Susan R. Wente announced plans to step down at the end of June 2026.
A message was sent today to the Wake Forest community from Jeanne Whitman Bobbitt, chair of the Wake Forest Board of Trustees, and Curt Farmer, vice chair of the Board of Trustees. Bobbitt and Farmer will serve as co-chairs of the Presidential Search Committee. The search committee will be composed of trustees, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and a student.
“We will draw on our shared values, our pursuit of excellence, our emphasis on relationships and conversation, our devotion to mission and our optimism for the future, to guide us in selecting our next president,” Bobbitt and Farmer wrote in the message.
The Board has established a presidential search website, which includes bios of members of the search committee, an outline of the search process and a presidential search survey. All members of the Wake Forest community are invited to share feedback with the search committee by completing the survey.
