Wake Forest Divinity School to host spirituality conference on congregational song

Wake Forest University Divinity School will host a Sept. 24 conference called, “When Bedrock Shifts: Tracing the Church’s Theology and Spirituality Through Congregational Song,” featuring a published composer and a hymn author.

The conference will include a lecture, small group exercises with singing, and a chance for participants to create their own hymns. The conference costs $50 and advance registration is required by Sept. 14.

Speakers will be Thomas H. Troeger of the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colo., and Sally Morris, director of music ministries at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greensboro.

Troeger has published two hymnals and two collections of religious poetry in addition to many books on preaching and worship.

Morris composes music for hymnal publishers.
