Student showcase concert at WFU

Pianist Matthew Webb will accompany Allison Jones, soprano, in four selections from Richard Strauss. Jones, an East Flat Rock native, is a recipient of the Marie T. and Miriam C. Willis Scholarship and the Bob Voss Music Award. She is also the director of One Accord, Wake Forest’s Christian women’s accapella ensemble.

Pianist Ann Listokin will accompany Katherine Anderson, flutist, in three songs by Joaquin Rodrigo. Anderson, a Cornelius native, is a member of the University Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. Last summer, she studied flute with Mark Thomas of Charlotte.

Senior Amy Bradley of Sarasota, Fla., will perform a movement from Maurice Ravel’s “Sonatine” on the piano. Bradley is the recipient of the M. Elizabeth Harris Scholarship in music. Amy is also involved in Collegium Musicum, a university organization.

Violinist Amy McPeters will perform three songs by Serge Prokofiev. McPeters has been studying violin since she was seven years old. She attended the North Carolina School of the Arts for high school and now studies under Jacqui Carrasco, assistant professor of music at Wake Forest.

The group Quintessential Winds will play three selections from Karl Goepfart. The group includes Anderson, flute; Sofia Rotter, oboe; Ashley Phillips, clarinet; and Gee Enegren, bassoon.

Rotter is a junior from Fairfax Station, Va. She is a Wake Forest Presidential Scholar in music and a member of the University Orchestra and Wind Ensemble.

Phillips is a senior from Apopka, Fla. She was chosen to perform with the National Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall in May 2002.

Enegren is a sophomore from Wichita, Kan. She is a Wake Forest Presidential Scholar in music and a member of the University Orchestra and Wind Ensemble.
