Alumnus brings pro tennis to town
Trustee and Board of Visitors member Don Flow (MBA '83) is the chairman of Winston-Salem Professional Tennis Inc., the nonprofit group that persuaded the U.S. Tennis Association to move this week's ATP tournament to Winston-Salem.

Former Deacon wins PGA tourney
Former Wake Forest All-American Webb Simpson shot a bogey-free final round 67 at the Wyndham Championship on Sunday to claim his first PGA Tour victory. Simpson shot rounds of 66-65-64-67 to finish at 18-under par.
Peace through education
Wake Foresters Phillips and Leslie McLean Bragg have teamed with James Lubo Mijak, a Lost Boy of Sudan, around the goal of building permanent primary schools in southern Sudan. Once a dream, the Raising Sudan project is becoming a reality.

Shopping center sale benefits students
Students at Wake Forest University, Queens University of Charlotte and Wingate University will benefit from today's sale of Park Road Shopping Center in Charlotte, N.C. Mr. Porter Byrum donated the shopping center to the institutions in June. Wake Forest will receive in excess of $40 million from the sale.

It took only one year for Ron Johnson to leap from a management position at a SuperTarget store to a role at athletic apparel maker Under Armour where he helps develop shoes worn on court by NBA stars. Johnson says he owes his dramatic ascent to the M.A. in Management program offered by Wake Forest.
