Duo-Pianists to Give Concert

Hodgens & Howard, duo-pianists who present concerts around the world, will perform at Wake Forest University Wednesday, March 19.

The free concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Brendle Recital Hall.

Delores Hodgens and Samuel Howard, a husband-and-wife team, will perform music by Rachmaninoff, Schubert, Bach, Lutoslawski, and Ravel.

Hodgens & Howard have toured North America, but also have appeared throughout Europe, including concerts in Geneva, Edinburgh, Berlin, Munich, Amsterdam, Vienna, London and many other cities.

Both pianists studied with Rosina Lhevinne at the Julliard School, then continued their studies with Ilona Kabos in London.

For the past 14 years, the duo-pianists have been artists-in-residence at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In addition to college teaching, the Howards are founders and artistic directors of a pre-college program that nurtures the development of young piano competition winners at the local, state and national levels.
