Collegium Musicum Presents English Music Concert

The Wake Forest University Collegium Musicum vocal and instrumental ensembles will present a concert entitled, “English Music of the 17th Century,” on Tuesday, April 22, at 8 p.m. in Brendle Recital Hall.

Admission is free.

The program will feature music by several 17th century British composers. The concert will feature sacred music of the time by Adrian Batten and Thomas Morley, the latter more famous for his lighter madrigals and ballets. One of the period’s masterpieces, the Orlando Gibbon’s verse anthem “This is the record of John,” will be performed by the vocal ensemble along with the viola da gamba consort from the instrumental ensemble.

Brian Gorelick will conduct the vocal ensemble, while Selina Carter conducts the instrumentalists.
