WFU Student Dies of Leukemia at Age 22

Amanda Lee Edwards, a Wake Forest University senior, died of leukemia on Monday, Sept. 29, at her home in Wayland, Mass.

Edwards was 22.

Diagnosed with leukemia in March of this year, she was unable to graduate with her class in May, but was awarded a cum laude degree just before her death.

She majored in psychology with a minor in art history and spent a semester during her junior year studying with Wake Forest’s program in Venice. Edwards was a member of Delta Gamma sorority and worked in the art department’s slide library.

She was the daughter of Stephanie Edwards and the late Raymond C. Edwards.

A funeral service will be held in Massachusetts. Also, a memorial service will be held on campus Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. in Davis Chapel.
