“The Digital Millennium” Begins New Lecture Series

Stephen D. O’Leary, a faculty member of the Annenberg School for Communication of the University of Southern California, begins the Department of Communication’s lecture series on rhetoric and religion Thursday, Feb. 19, with “The Digital Millennium” – a program on new religions, the Internet and electronic media.

O’Leary, an associate professor of communication at USC, will speak at 7:30 p.m. in DeTamble Auditorium. A member of the National Academy of Religion and the National Communication Association, O’Leary is author of the book, “Arguing the Apocalypse: A Theory of Millennial Rhetoric” (Oxford University Press, 1994) and the soon-to-be released, “A Prescription for Millennium Fever,” also to be published by Oxford.

The Communication Department lecture series is part of the Year of Religion in American Life and is free and open to the public.
