Boyes to Present Musical Portrait of the Year
Pianist Katherine Boyes will present a “Portrait of the Twelve Months of the Year” during a concert at 8 p.m. Friday, April 3, at Wake Forest University’s Brendle Recital Hall.

The musical journey through the months is compiled from the piano cycles “Das Jahr” composed by 19th century composer Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel and “A Calendar Set” by 20th century composer Judith Lang Zaimont.
Boyes will also perform a Johannes Brahms composition and transcriptions by Franz Liszt of a song by Robert Schumann and choral works by Allegri and Mozart.
Boyes is a visiting instructor of music at Wake Forest. A native of England, she has given solo and chamber music performances throughout Great Britain and the United States and has recorded for BBC Radio and American Public Radio. Boyes is a member of the chamber music group Emrys Ensemble and co-directs the Cincinnati Contemporary Music Ensemble Festival. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
