Spring Dance Concert to Feature Student Choreography
The Wake Forest University Dance Company will present a spring dance concert April 23-25 featuring excerpts from Marius Petipa’s “Swan Lake” and “Don Quixote” and works choreographed by students.
Performances begin at 8 p.m. Thusday, Friday and Saturday on the Scales Fine Arts Center Main Stage.
Fanchon Cordell, who teaches dance at Wake Forest, has restaged portions of “Swan Lake” and “Don Quixote.” The “Swan Lake” pas de deux will feature Wake Forest senior Aurora Smith and North Carolina School of the Arts student James Mills. Nina Lucas, Wake Forest’s director of dance, choreographed a new dance piece using the music of Janet Jackson. Members of the dance company also created three new works included on the program.
Admission is $10, $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available in advance by calling the Wake Forest Theater Box Office at (336) 758-5295 between 12-5:30 p.m. or can be purchased at the door.
