WFU Offers Flute Fest
Wake Forest University’s annual flute fest concert will feature Wake Forest flute students and the Silver Wind Flute Choir, a professional ensemble, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, in Brendle Recital Hall.
“Bad Girls,” a new work by Winston-Salem composer Doug Borwick, and Mendelssohn’s “Fingal’s Cave Overture” are among the pieces on the program.
Wake Forest flute students, the Wake Forest Flute Choir, the Silver Wind Flute Choir and the Salem Flute Choir will conclude the concert with Pachelbel’s Canon.
Separk Music Co. will exhibit flute music and accessories in the Brendle Recital Hall lobby beginning at 2 p.m.
The Silver Wind Flute Choir was founded in 1994 under the direction of Kathryn Levy, Wake Forest flute instructor and principal flute of the Winston-Salem Piedmont Triad Symphony. The ensemble members are area performers and teachers.
