Student Music Groups to Give Benefit Concert

Student music groups at Wake Forest University will perform Friday, Nov. 13, in a benefit concert for the City of Joy Scholars-eleven students who will travel to Calcutta to work with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity.

The 7:30 p.m. concert will be held in Wait Chapel. Two Christian a cappella groups, Chi Rho and Agape, will perform, as well as two secular a cappella groups, Temporary Reprieve and Demon Divas. The Wake Forest Gospel Choir and a drama troupe called Living Parables will also perform.

Wake Forest students have traveled to Calcutta annually during the holidays since 1994. In Calcutta, also called the “City of Joy,” they will work at the Khalighat Home for the Dying and Destitute; Prem Dan, a home for the mentally and physically handicapped; and the Shishu Bhavan orphanage. They will comfort the dying, bathe patients, clean clothes and bed linens, and care for children.

Tickets are $7 ($5 with a Wake Forest I.D.) and may be purchased at the door. For more information, call 758-3983.
