Five songs by Francis Poulenc about the banalities of war will highlight the program, which will also include works by Claudio Monteverdi, Antonio Vivaldi and George Frederic Handel. Selections from the works of 19th century composers Jan Philip Schinhan and Joseph Canteloube will complete the program.
Johnson recently recorded 15 of Schinhan’s songs. She teaches voice at Guilford College and serves as a soloist at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in High Point.
Pianist Michael Parker will accompany Johnson. Parker has performed widely throughout the United States as an accompanist and chamber musician.
