ROTC to hold wreath-laying ceremony
The Wake Forest University ROTC program will hold a wreath-laying ceremony in honor of Veterans Day on Nov. 11.
The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at Perritt Plaza in front of Benson University Center. The free, public event will recognize faculty, staff and students who have served in the U.S. military. Veterans will receive a certificate of appreciation during the ceremony.
“We want to recognize the military men and women who have given their time and lives to protect the principles our Constitution is based on,” said Maj. Dennis Scheuermann, associate professor of military science at Wake Forest.
Lt. Col. James R. Page II, chair and professor of military science, will offer remarks during the ceremony. A trumpeter from the Wake Forest marching band will play “Taps” during the lowering of the flag.
The Army ROTC program at Wake Forest was established in 1951 and has produced more than 1,700 officers.
For more information or to participate in the ceremony, contact Scheuermann at 336-758-5836 or by e-mail at scheudj@wfu.edu.
