Wake Forest University Music Department faculty members Selina Carter and Marlene Hoirup will perform works by Luigi Boccherini, Leos Janacek, Ludwig van Beethoven and Sergei Rachmaninoff at a Sept. 24 recital in the university’s Brendle Recital Hall.
Carter will perform on cello during the 3 p.m. recital. She has taught early string workshops throughout the United States and Taiwan. She performs with the Winston-Salem Piedmont Triad Symphony, the Reynolda Trio and the Wake Forest Consort.
Hoirup, a pianist, earned a master’s degree from The Juilliard School. She is a past member of the music faculty at both the Eastman School of Music and Salem College. She is also a member of the Reynolda Trio.
The performance will include Boccherini’s “Sonata in A Major,” Janacek’s “A Fairy Tale,” seven variations on the music from Beethoven’s “Magic Flute,” and “Sonata in G Minor, Op. 19” by Rachmaninoff.
The performance will be free and open to the public.
