Wake Forest debate team to host mock debate
Members of Wake Forest University’s intercollegiate debate team will stage a mock debate on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. in Carswell Hall’s Annenburg Forum-three days before George W. Bush and Al Gore are scheduled to face off in Wait Chapel.
Debate team members will take the positions of the candidates on various policy issues. The debate will follow the same format as planned for the Gore/Bush debate at Wake Forest. The event will be open to the public.
Debate at Wake Forest dates back to the early 1800s. Home of the 1997 national championship debate team, Wake Forest is among a small number of schools that have qualified the most often for the National Debate Tournament’s national finals.
Parking for the event is available in the Lot W, adjacent to the Worrell Professional Center. Visitors should enter campus through the University Parkway entrance. Lot W is located on the right immediately past the Professional Center.
